Grandville Middle School VEX teams had a huge day Sunday at the State of Michigan VEX Robotics Championship. Of the four GMS teams which qualified for and played at the State Championship, three of them brought home State trophies!
Team 216A had an amazing day, finishing the qualification rounds in 1st place. They went on to win the tournament to clinch their ranking as the top middle school team in the State of Michigan. They also won the judged portion of the Championship, and claimed the Excellence Award for the State of Michigan. No middle school team in Michigan has ever won both the State Tournament Championship Trophy and the Excellence before. What a great day for this young team!
Teams 216D and 216C also won big at the State Championship. 216D won the Programming Challenge, and currently holds the highest Programming Challenge score in Michigan – besting every middle school and high school team in the State! Team 216C won the Create Award, recognizing the robot for its creative design and successful play on the field
State Championship performances by teams 216A and 216D earned them invitations to the VEX World Championship, to be held April 15-18 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
