The RoboDawgs’ 2015 FRC robots are bagged and patiently waiting for their first competition of the year. That first event, the East Kentwood District event, will be held on March 6 and 7 at East Kentwood High School. There will be one opportunity, however, for the public to see these robots prior to that event.
Each March, the RoboDawgs hold their Annual Open House and Silent Auction at the Grandville Robotics & Engineering Center (4900 Canal SW). On that evening, the team holds a “coming out” party for their FRC competition robots. All the FRC competition robots are un-bagged for the evening, and hundreds of visitors drop in to see them. The team also brings out prior year FRC robot, and they bring out VEX competition robots, autonomous racing boats, high altitude balloon capsules, competitive unmanned aerial vehicles, and more. The 2015 event will run from 6:30pm-9:00pm on March 4.
During the Open House, the RoboDawgs will hold their annual Silent Auction. Visitors can bid on hundreds of items donated by area merchants and service providers – as well as team-related memorabilia. The silent auction is the single largest fundraiser for the team, and it generates $15,000-$20,000 each year.
